WVU’s Offense Sluggish in 1st Qtr in Win over Kansas State

WVU Will Grier showed his rust in the 1st Qtr by throwing an interception, Then RB Leddie Brown fumbled the ball. Finally, late in the 2nd half WV’s D caused and recovered a KS fumble. However both Grier and QB Jack Allison both threw interceptions. I agree with Grier’s comment after the game that these turn-overs have to be cleaned up. Another area of concern is the lack of turn-over caused by WV’s Defense. Also, Staley needs to work on field goal accuracy.

Overall, I was impressed with the depth and play of both WVUs’ offense and defense. Going into the  season there were a lot of questions concerning WVUs defense, especially its depth. What I saw today should quiet most of this negativity.

Even though Grier threw 2 ints today, he threw 5 TD passes, 3 of which went to David Sills. Grier completed 71% of his passes for 356 yards. This should go along way to keep him in the Heisman talks.

I liked the speed and energy WVU played with today on both defense and offense. Going forward, I do have concerns with the play of the safeties and corners.

GO EERs!!!
