WV Home-Growns Who Saw Action Against ECU
I like knowing how many WV Home-Growns get on the field in WVU games. Below is the list of 13 WVU native players who saw action against ECU:
- #39 Safety Dante Bonamico
- #19 WR Druw Bowen
- #34 Safety Shane Commodore
- #46 DL Reese Donahue
- #15 Punter/holder Billy Kinney
- #92 DL Jon Lewis
- #52 LS Nick Meadows
- #48 FG kicker Mike Molina
- #1 Safety Derrek Pitts Jr.
- #30 Kick-Offs Evan Staley
- #56 DL Darius Stills
- #10 Safety Dylan Tonkery
- #28 FB/TE Elijah Wellman
We all know about Eli Wellman lead blocking for the RBs, but against ECU Wellman was targeted once and caught a pass from QB Will Grier for 19-yards.
Since spring practice we have heard a lot of praise from both coaches and players about the effort and play of safety Dylan Tonkery. Against ECU, Tonkery had 4 tackles: 3 tackles were solo, 1-tackle for loss (TFL), and 1 QB hurry.
DL Jon Lewis had 3 tackles all were Solo; DL Reese Donahue had 2 tackles and 1 hurry; and safety Shane Commodore had 1 tackle and it was solo.
FG kicker Mike Molina missed his 2 attempts, kick-off specialist Evan Staley had 2 kicks that went out-of-bounds, and 0 that made it into the end-zone.
Freshman WR Druw Bowen caught his 1st pass in a WVU game from QB Chris Chugunov, and freshman Safety Derrek Pitts Jr had 1 tackle.
Punter/holder Billy Kinney had 4 punts for 160-yards. His longest was 53-yards.
I hope I didn’t miss anyone who should have been on this list. Please let us know if I did, and who we missed.
I figure we’ll see this many or more home-growns this week against Delaware State.
GO EERs!!!
