The residents of Huber Heights, Ohio, have to truly be proud of their Wayne High School Warrior football and basketball team. Many of the players compete on both teams.

This year both Wayne’s football and basketball teams made it to the State D1 Championship Game.

While the football team lost the title game to St. Edwards, the basketball team beat St Edwards on the road to their win over Westville South for the title.

WVU has offered Warrior Cornerback Tobias Gilliam.

Tobias Gilliam’s Stats: 5’11”, 170 lbs, 40 time: 4.45. He is rated a 3-Star recruit by both Rivals and 247Sports.

In addition to the Mountaineers, Gilliam currently holds 17 offers from schools such as: Ohio State, Alabama, Cincinnati, Michigan State, and is currently committed to Kentucky.

However, he still has interest in WVU and is planning a visiting there soon. When speaking with him I was unable to tell which he was more excited about, visiting WVU or being hosted by WVU Safety Karl Joseph.

Gilliam is definitely impressed with the play of Karl Joseph, especially the way Joseph tackles.

In our telephone interview, we talked about both Wayne and WVU football. Gilliam said he was excited to receive an offer from the Mountaineers.

He also stated he would never put himself in the situation WVU DT Kyle Rose did over the weekend.

Gilliam was a very easy interview, even though I woke him up from his spring break sleep. When I informed him that I lived in Huber Heights and attend most of the Wayne football games, he stated: “Then you have seen me play and know what I do”.

He appreciated the fact that I have watched him play, and that I was not just a reporter that had simply read about him. We briefly discussed his team’s loss to St Edwards for the State of Ohio D1 Title.

I look forward to watching him play this coming season.

In summary, if WVU can get Gilliam on campus with Karl Joseph is his host, the Mountaineers have a good shot at flipping this young talented CB from Kentucky.
