WVU Scrimmage at The Greenbrier

Welcome to White Sulphur Sprnigs

If I were going to go to one of WVU’s open football scrimmages, I would plan an extended weekend trip to the one in White Sulphur Springs, WV at the Greenbrier Resort.

Lake TuckahoeIf you are a fan of WVU football and you love to trout fish, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy both. There is Tuckahoe Lake, Little Anthony Creek, and Anthony Creek. You can use waders to fish both Little Anthony and Anthony.

west-virginia-sandstoneIf you prefer to fish for bass or catfish you are not far from Sandstone Falls on the New River. Here you can catch catfish, smallmouth bass, black bass, and perch. The New River is a great place to fish anytime. Or you can fish for catfish and bass on the much calmer waters of the Greenbrier River.

However, if you are a historian you can get a tour of what was once a huge federal government complex at the Greenbrier, you can also travel a little ways up the road and go see the government’s largest radar facility, or go for a train ride on the Cass Railroad.

If you want good food and you want to eat the best Ruben ever made go to ‘Route 60 American Grill & Bar’, which is downtown.

FishHatchery-WSSTake a tour of the Federal Trout Hatchery. Even it isn’t open there are brood trout in the outside ponds. I always stop here.

I have been going to White Sulphur Springs since I was a young boy. This is one of WV’s best kept secrets. Go take your family and enjoy.

If I were a WVU coach or football player, or staff member, I’d be figuring out how to take my fishing gear with me.
