WVU’s Bruce Irvin Has Seattle Fans Cheering – “Bruuuce”!
Seattle – WVU’s Bruce Irvin now has Seattle Seahawks fans using a former Mountaineer cheer. During the final regular season game against the St Louis Rams, the former WVU defensive end scored a touchdown on a 49 yd. interception return.
After being switched to the SAM linebacker position, Irvin found himself in the right place at the right time. Rams quarterback Shaun Hill hit tight end Jared Cook at the Rams 49 on a six yard pass, only to have the ball immediately stripped away by Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner.
The ball flipped into the air and Irvin caught it. Irvin has 4.5 speed even at 6’3″ and 250 lbs, and he out ran the Rams offense 49 yds to the end zone. While Irvin and his teammates celebrated on the sidelines and the play was shown on the video board, you could clearly hear the partisan Seattle crowd’s cheers turn into a very clear “Bruuuce!”
